There seems to be some lovely hostility surfacing here about belief. I agree with Nick that Solopsism is not really a practical philosophy...after all it's not useful for anyone unless there's no one in existence but yourself. I fully understand the appeal of existentialism especially since life appears to be purposeless and impossible to understand--it is a very nice and easy solution to all questions that anyone asks about life. It's in essence the ultimate pessimism and cynical view of human existence. If someone has a shitty life, then it's likely existentialism will appeal to them more than a hopeful philosophy which they have not seen demonstrated in their lives.
What do I believe in since I'm so vague? Well I cannot say my own particular set of beliefs are any more definitive than Matt's, perhaps even more murky. It's obvious to me that people and relationships contribute to the most important aspect of our existence. There are also many indications towards there being some sort of purpose for existence, although I will not claim to know it's definition or limits. All humans desire hope, and they will either fabricate it from nothing, or try to base it on something that makes sense to them and is more likely to be true...As long as we keep hoping we keep living.

At any rate, i wasnt looking for a critique i was talking about some things i might consider but given the blunt opposition made me look deeper into them and question which one i would consider more. which isnt to say that i dont have hope with any of my choices on philosophy since thatd be false, soooo thanks, i guess?
