Anyone got favorite poems?
I like "Animals" by Walt Whitman:
Think I could turn and live with animals, the are so placid and self-contained; Stand and look at them long and long. They do not sweat and whine about their condition; They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins; They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God; Not one is dissatisfied--not one is demented with the mania of owning things; Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago; Not one is respectable or industrious over the whole earth.

I'm not a big fan of poetry, but here's something I wrote in creative writing.
Drums beat wildly in my head, the biting smells of sweat, blood, and decay tore at my nostrils. A pounding sensation swept through my body, a heart beat drawing closer, closer, closer... I could nearly taste the coursing salty sweet blood. It was the taste of life, and I longed to consume it. To chase it tirelessly through vast jungles, chanting frantically, forcing it to the ground, tearing at its flesh. I longed for the hunt, with its delicious blood reward. Dripping down from my quickly working lips, pooling on my jaws, and splattering in droplets onto the cool ground, where it would steam, gently hissing, rising like a sundered spirit. But no... No, I am civilized.

Here is a poem i recently had to write for World Lit. lemme know what you think and what not.
Uniformity like no other. This veil forced upon her head. A nation’s tears this cloth can’t cover. As a gender’s suppression makes this veil run red. They, the victimized in society. Stuck in a sickening display of misogyny. One gender revered in notoriety. With no one to rue their adversity. The abhorrent truth - violence every 15 seconds. The abhorrent truth - 6,000 dead. The abhorrent truth - her strife is just the same. Yet when she fights she is looked at with shame. The oppression is not so cryptic. Here in the land where no woman dare show her face.
